Minolta MC/MD Lenses on Olympus DSLRs

I started finding great old Minolta glass (see list below) and I would be happy to sell it to you with either an early SRT 101 or later X-700. My friend Jay shoots an Olympus DSLR and I found out about: Using Minolta lenses on Olympus 4/3 DSLRs. The gist of the article is that using an adapter opens up a whole world of great glass to Olympus DSLR owners. Heck, I am thinking about picking up a used Olympus DLSR body--anybody want to trade a body for some combination of glass & cash?

I just got a less-expensive version of the adapter for $18 and I am anxious for Jay to try it out. I will let you know what he thinks (and whether he wants to buy it or if I can offer it to you).

Minolta MC/MD Lenses:

$89 Minolta Prime MC Rokkor-PF 58mm f1.4--legendary fast glass!

$100 Vivitar Series 1 (MD-mount), 70-210mm f2.8-4.0 Macro Focusing Zoom (condition: 9+) w/ padded case. This is the renowned version 3 of this series (made by Komine). "The 70-210 Series 1 is a great lens for hiking and backpacking. It's light, reasonably fast and replaces several other lenses, not the least of which is a dedicated macro lens. The 1:2.5 ratio of the Vivitar is often good enough for flower and plant "macro" photography."

$49 Minolta MD Rokkor-X, 50mm f1.7 (condition: 9) w/lens case

Nikon DSLR On Sale Now

While I haven't gotten into trading DSLR bodies, yet, compare the following deal from Adorama with similiar DSLRs offered locally on Craigslist/Alaska's List $399--Nikon D3000 10.2 MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.

I have a great lens that would go with this DSLR--Sigma 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 APO Macro Super. Sigma 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 APO Macro Super. Better yet, this lens is future-proofed--it will work on your full-frame Nikon (when you get it). I have tested it on my Pentax K20D with a Nikon/PK adapter. Pentax makes it easy to use non-Pentax mount lenses with readily available adapters.

My regular price for this outstanding Nikon-mount lens is $189. During my summer clearance sale, knock 15% off--$160.50 !!!

Check out my other great buys on lenses and camera/lens packages!

Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL w/M42 lenses

$49 OBO

Nice Mamiya 1000 DTL with two M42 (screw-mount) lenses. Light meter works with new battery. Includes roll of film and a camera bag.

Lenses:
The best M42 lenses to use have A(uto)/M(anual) switch which allows control of the aperture on other cameras. Otherwise, the lens remains wide open. This is usually OK for macro work where you need lots of light but your DOF will be smaller.

Mamiya/Sekor 55mm f1.8 w/AM switch
Hanimar 135mm f2.8 wo/AM switch

These M42 lenses can be used on your film/digital SLR. I am using one on my Canon and my Pentax K20D. The best M42 lenses to use on are those with the A(uto)/M(anual) switch which allows control of the aperture. Otherwise, the lens remains wide open. This is usually OK for macro work where you need lots of light but your DOF will be smaller.

Classic Minolta SR-T 101 w/ Fast (f1.4) Prime Lens -- $99

Minolta SR-T 101 w/lenses, flash & camera case (all in excellent condition)

The fast prime can be used on your other film/digital SLRs with the right adapter. For example, $18 for Minolta MC/MD to Olympus 4/3 Adapter.

There is an SR-T 101 selling right now on Ebay w/slower f1.7 lens for $120 + S&H. These cameras were built to last and there is lots of life left in it for those willing to slow down and work with film.

This camera is in GREAT SHAPE (CONDITION: 8+). If you go over it very carefully you will find two or three very minor handling marks but the OVERALL CONDITION IS FANTASTIC! It is fully functional--it works!

Description & Pictures

This is a manual SLR--the battery is there just to power the light meter. If the battery fails, you can continue taking excellent photos. That's why this model has been used by many a photographer as their backup camera. It's a real workhorse.

THIS IS AN IDEAL CAMERA FOR PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES WHERE AUTO FEATURES AREN'T ALLOWED.

The following is included:

* SR-T 101 35 MM SLR Camera body
* Lens - Fast Prime! 58mm f1.4 MC Rokkor-PF. Provides exceptional definition and clarity. Many people feel that the metal-bodied Rokkor series lenses are the best lenses that Minolta made.
* Flash w/ PC Cord
* New battery - installed-light meter works
* Copy of Owners manual

Other SR-T's on Craigslist (most recent first, updated 6/26/2010):
(201's have a hot shoe while 101's do not)
$OBO 201 w/? lens
$75 101 w/lens? & $75 201 w/lens?

I just took delivery of a Minolta lens to Four Thirds body adapter--I can't wait to see the results my friend Jay is going to get with his Olympus DSLR using this Fast Prime--Minolta 58mm f1.4 MC Rokkor-PF. I am so excited about this lens that I have another one ordered to make at least one other Alaskan can try it out.

Update: FD to EOS adapter: I have been experimenting with a $35 adapter to use FD lenses on EOS bodies (film or digital). While reviewers say there is "some" loss of IQ--I am finding I am getting a lot of decent shots (DOF was small in the weak light of our recent cloudy days!). Given the low prices of FD lenses, I think you should see for yourself.
